Seminar Description

This seminar will consider the origins and adoption of the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, known as “The Bill of Rights.” Participants will discuss what citizens at the time understood by the “free exercise” of religion, the “right to bear arms,” and other provisions. Participants will also discuss how much “original” meanings should influence our understanding of constitutional rights today. Four sessions.
