Navy, had carried out his threats, John Tyler would have been the first president of the United States to be assassinated. Scholar-in-Residence Christopher McKee will use Randolph’s unusually well documented life—and repeated incarcerations—to explore the nineteenth-century Navy’s cutting-edge medical response to individuals in its ranks with severe mental health problems.
