NULL

Members of the Society of Collectors and other special guests are cordially invited for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a talk by Katherine Hamilton-Smith, Director of Public Affairs and Development for the Lake County Forest Preserve District. Hamilton-Smith will discuss the Curt Teich Postcard Archives' journey from potential doom in a Chicago landfill, to attracting major private collections, to its recent transition to a new home at the Newberry.

This event is part of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Society of Collectors.

In addition to creating and developing the Curt Teich Postcard Collection until it was acquired by the Newberry, Katherine Hamilton-Smith is responsible for overseeing the Lake County Forest Preserve District’s external communications and fundraising activities. Hamilton-Smith received a master's degree in art and music history from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Nebraska.
