Seminar Description

This workshop is for people who want to write about the important people, places, and events in their and their family’s lives. These real-life stories of loss and triumph, of love and regret, and of lessons learned may be recorded as letters, diary entries, even eulogies. Using a series of helpful writing prompts, students will both recall and record their stories, which they can then share at family gatherings or in publication, send as gifts, or have as keepsakes. One session.

Carol LaChapelle is a writer, teacher, and the author of Finding Your Voice, Telling Your Stories (Marion Street Press, 2008). She has taught writing and journal writing workshops in Chicago for 25 years, including at the Newberry Library.
