The Black Metropolis Research Consortium (BMRC) invites you to our 2025 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 14th from 2-4pm, graciously hosted by our member, the Newberry Library.
We will be joined by our special guests, Dr. Leslie Harris, a Professor in History at Northwestern University whose scholarship has focused on complicating the ideas we all hold about the history of African Americans in the United States, and a co-editor of the recent book, Black Urban History at the Crossroads: Race and Place in theAmerican City, and Dr. Davarian Baldwin, an urbanist, historian, cultural critic and Professor of American Studies at Trinity College who contributed to the book.
Harris and Baldwin will discuss the new publication and how looking at three centuries of Black urban experiences in American can help us to understand the present moment.
The presentation will be followed by light snacks and soft drinks.
