CRS invites scholars to explore premodern studies at the Newberry in a series of three hour-long virtual events this fall hosted by CRS staff and their colleagues at the library. All virtual events will take place at 12:00 pm Central time on Zoom.
These virtual events are all free and open to all, but space is limited and registration in advance is required. Participants must register for each event individually. See below for links to register for each open house.

Led by Elizabeth Neary (Fellowships and Academic Programs)
In this session, the Associate Director of Fellowships and Academic Programs will introduce participants to the variety of short and long-term fellowships offered by the library and provide useful tips for the application process.

Friday, October 3, 2025
Led by Newberry Curators and Librarians
Newberry curators and librarians will present highlights of and recent acquisitions in the collection to reveal the breadth and depth of the Newberry’s premodern holdings of manuscript, print, and material objects from Europe and the Americas.

Digital Resources

Led by Sophia Croll (Teacher Programs) and Jen Wolfe (Digital Initiatives and Services)
The Newberry hosts a variety of digital resources for teaching and researching premodern culture. This session will introduce scholars to the Newberry’s digital tools, including our digital collections, the Digital Collections in the Classroom, and a variety of other digital tools that use premodern materials.
