Seminar Description
Commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day, this seminar will focus on the impact of leadership struggles within the Anglo-American “Grand” alliance upon the course and length of the Normandy campaign, Operation Overlord. The seminar will cover the planning of the Overlord campaign, the D-Day assault, and the alliance’s three-month campaign across northern Europe. Discussions will concentrate on the relationships among Overlord's principal political figures and military commanders, as well as the qualities of their leadership.

Edward E. Gordon holds a PhD and has taught at DePaul, Loyola, and Northwestern Universities. In addition to lecturing extensively on many facets of World War II, he is the coauthor of Divided on D-Day: How Conflicts and Rivalries Jeopardized the Allied Victory at Normandy.
