Dance History: Isadora & Beyond

Participants in this seminar will take a historical journey through modern dance as it was conceived by pioneer Isadora Duncan. We will examine the details of the genre’s development through the contributions of Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Alvin Ailey, and more!

Seminar Description

Participants in this seminar will take a historical journey through modern dance as it was conceived by pioneer Isadora Duncan. We will examine the details of the genre’s development through the contributions of Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Alvin Ailey, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris, Thodos Dance Chicago, and Pilobolus. We will also learn about the genesis and development of our city’s world-renowned Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.

Six sessions. Registration – $230

Lin Batsheva Kahn is an innovative choreographer and professor of contemporary dance at the Theatre School at DePaul University. She has been named a DePaul Excellence in Teaching Honoree and a Jewish Chicagoan of the Year, and she has received an Innovation in Teaching Award from the DePaul/Art Institute Partnership Committee.
