Genealogy Tree-Sharing: Should You Use an Online Tree?

Have you always wanted to post a genealogy tree online but been unsure which to use? In this one-day seminar, we will learn the pros and cons of using online tree sharing websites, discussing topics like ease of set-up, methods of sharing, and privacy.

As a precaution to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Adult Education Seminars Program’s Summer 2020 term will be moving online. Virtual seminars will meet via Zoom video conference and will use email and Google Drive folders to share resources and communicate with instructors and participants. Seminar Description

Have you always wanted to post a genealogy tree online but been unsure which to use? In this one-day seminar, we will learn the pros and cons of using online tree sharing websites, discussing topics like ease of set-up, methods of sharing, and privacy. Use your laptop or tablet for the hands-on section of the seminar, when we learn how to set up a tree to share on Ancestry and FamilySearch.

One session. Registration – $85

Caron Primas Brennan is a frequent speaker on genealogy at local libraries and genealogical societies, as well as a blogger and a genealogical researcher. She has taught at the Newberry since 2009 and is a board member of the Chicago Genealogical Society.
