Seminar Description

Michelangelo Buonarotti created works of art that continue to inspire and move countless numbers of art lovers. This seminar will explore the full range of Michelangelo's works in sculpture, painting, architecture, and drawing, to gain a greater understanding of this many-faceted genius. Readings from primary and secondary sources will include the earliest biography of the artist and some of Michelangelo’s own poetry. Six sessions.

Jeffrey Nigro is a Research Associate in the Department of Ancient and Byzantine Art and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Museum Education at the Art Institute of Chicago.
