Class Description

A hands-on workshop on what to do and what not to do to protect your family papers, ephemera, and photographs, with examples of the correct materials and advice on how to avoid common storage and preservation mistakes.

Hilary Mac Austin is a writer, researcher, and independent historian. She is the co-author, with Kathleen Thomspon, of four books: Examining the Evidence, The Face of Our Past, America’s Children, and Children of the Depression. She is also the author of numerous lessons and activities on the Newberry’s Digital Collections for the Classroom.

Cost and Registration

1 Session, $85 ($76.50 for Newberry members, seniors, and students). Learn about becoming a member.

We offer our classes at three different price options: Regular ($85), Community Supported ($80), and Sponsor ($90). Following the models of other institutions, we want to ensure that our classes are accessible to a wider audience while continuing to support our instructors. You may choose the price that best fits your situation when registering through Learning Stream.
