Seminar Description
Virgil’s great epic poem the Aeneid recounts the adventures of the Trojan prince Aeneas and his followers, as well as the legendary foundation story of ancient Rome. In addition to its literary greatness, the Aeneid raises many issues that are still relevant today, including the roles of imperialism and “manifest destiny” in human history; the conflict between love and duty; the nature of heroism; and the eternal challenges of resolving personal and political conflicts.
