The world created and inhabited by the Abstract Expressionists in mid-twentieth-century New York was a wild, crazy, bold, fascinating, and frenetically creative one, out of which emerged the first fully American style of painting. The biggest celebrity artists of the period were almost all men, but there were equally talented and prolific women artists who often operated in the shadows. In this one-day seminar, we will bring some of these female artists into the light.
