Starting March 2, 2023, Vince Firpo will become the Newberry’s Vice President for Public Engagement. Leading the newly created Division of Public Engagement, Firpo will work with staff across the Newberry as well as partners throughout Chicago and beyond to create enriching experiences for lifelong learners everywhere. He will oversee the departments of exhibitions, public programs, and adult education at the Newberry.
Firpo brings a depth of experience to this role at the library, where he has been a staff member for more than 10 years. As Director of Individual Giving, Firpo had primary responsibility for the library’s Annual Fund, which consistently exceeded its goals under his leadership. He has implemented new forms of donor communications, events, and engagement opportunities that expanded the Newberry’s community of users, visitors, and supporters.
Forming the new Division of Public Engagement reflects the Newberry’s commitment to pursuing innovative ways to connect people with its world-class collections and learning resources. Through a dynamic range of offerings, the Newberry seeks to encourage conversations that invite diverse audiences to deepen their understanding of the human experience.
