How do the ideals of one generation become the inheritance of the next?
Join playwright and memoirist Zayd Ayers Dohrn and religious scholar Sarah Hammerschlag as they explore enduring intersections of faith, identity, political activism, and family memory, asking how the moral and spiritual questions of that era continue to shape our world today.
Dangerous, Dirty, Violent, and Young: A Fugitive Family in the Revolutionary Underground will be available to purchase in the Newberry Bookshop, and the author will sign copies after the talk.

Speakers / Ponentes
Zayd Ayers Dohrn is an award-winning playwright, documentary podcaster, and director of the MFA in Writing for Screen + Stage in the Department of Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University. His recent memoir, Dangerous, Dirty, Violent, and Young: A Fugitive Family in the Revolutionary Underground, recounts his early life as the son of Weather Underground radicals.
Sarah Hammerschlag, John Nuveen Professor of Religion and Literature, Philosophy of Religions, and History of Judaism at the University of Chicago Divinity School, takes a multidisciplinary approach to studying the intersection of religion, identity, and politics. Her most recent book, co-authored with Constance Furey and Amy Hollywood, is Devotion: Three Inquiries in Religion, Literature, and Political Imagination.

Zayd Ayers Dohrn es un galardonado dramaturgo, creador de podcasts documentales y director de la Maestría en Escritura para Pantalla y Escenario en el Departamento de Radio, Televisión y Cine de la Universidad Northwestern.
