Event—Public Programming

Canceled - Art and Design Books for Kids

NULL

The Newberry has been closely monitoring developments related to COVID-19. To enable visitors to practice social distancing now recommended by both the Center for Disease Control and the Chicago Department of Public Health, we have decided to postpone this program. Please visit www.newberry.org/covid19 for more information and for regular updates regarding Newberry operations.

In this art- and design-themed children’s program featuring readings and a craft activity, Newberry staff member Elizabeth Cummings will read selections from the picture books Frida Kahlo and Her Animalitos, by Monica Brown (author) and John Parra (illustrator); Henri's Walk to Paris, by Saul Bass (illustrator) and Leonore Klein (author); and Hey, Wall: A Story of Art and Community, by Susan Verde (author) and John Parra (illustrator). Afterwards, participants will be able to express their own artistic visions in a craft activity.

This program is supported by a grant from the Chicago Free for All Fund at the Chicago Community Trust.
