Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Working Group

Chris Pappan presenting in November 2018

The NAIS Working group is a monthly workshop coordinated by the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research at Northwestern University and sponsored by the D’Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies. The group provides a space for faculty, graduate students, and independent scholars in the Chicagoland area who are working in Native American Indian and Indigenous Studies to present their works-in-progress scholarship. We read writing at any stage from any discipline related to Native American and Indigenous Studies.

The group meets monthly at the Newberry Library, but is currently meeting virtually in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Papers are pre-circulated to members of the working group. If you are a scholar or Indigenous community member in the Chicagoland area interested in participating in the group, please contact the group’s coordinator Dr. Kelly Wisecup at kelly.wisecup@northwestern.edu.

From 2008 to 2020, the McNickle Center sponsored its own American Indian and Indigenous Studies Seminar Series. You can view past McNickle Seminars here.
