By phone with a major credit card: (312) 255-3700.

Either mail in the registration form found in the Newberry Seminars Program brochure or download and mail in the Registration Form. Personal checks should be made out to the Newberry.

Fax the Registration Form to us at (312) 255-3680.

Please note that registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Many of the seminars fill quickly; we encourage you to register early. Full payment is required at the time of registration, and we cannot pro-rate tuitions to compensate for missed classes. Seven registrants are needed to run a class.

Once we receive payment, a confirmation letter will be sent to you along with a Newberry reader’s card and a reading or materials list for the seminar. Cost of books and other materials is not included in listed tuitions. All seminars meet at the Newberry unless otherwise noted.

Discounts

We are pleased to offer a 10% discount to seniors over the age of 65, students with a valid copy of their student ID, and Newberry Associates at the Author level ($100 or above).

Refunds

A $20 registration fee is included in all listed prices; this fee is not refundable. For single and two-session seminars, tuition (less the $20 registration fee) is refundable until one day before the seminar begins. For seminars meeting more than twice, tuition (less the $20 registration fee) is refundable until the second class meeting; we cannot give a refund once the seminar has met a second time. Requests for refunds may be placed over the phone, but must be received in writing or via e-mail at programs@newberry.org before the class meets a second time.

Books and Materials

The Newberry’s Bookstore stocks all required and suggested titles for the Seminars. Newberry Associates, at the Author level ($100) and above, and members of the Seminary Co-op receive a 10% discount on all seminar texts. Please call (312) 255-3520 or send an e-mail to newberrybooks1@msn.com to find out what books are required for a seminar and to check on text availability.

Illinois Teacher CPDU Credits

As of March 2001 the Newberry is an approved provider of Continuing Professional Development Unit (CPDU) credit for Illinois teachers seeking renewal of their state certification. Seminar participants seeking CPDU credit will receive one hour of credit for each hour of class time. Eligible seminars offered for CPDU credit are indicated with a # mark before the title. If you would like CPDU credit for a seminar, please inform the Director of Public Programs by email or phone after you register.

The Newberry also offers a series of Professional Development Programs for Teachers. Please note these are not a part of the Seminars Program.
