Registration Information

Fur trade contract
Fur trade contract between François Francoeur and voyageurs for transport of goods. 1692. Ruggles 419.

Registration for summer seminars opens April 23. The deadline for summer registration is May 29.

To improve our service to participants and instructors we are instituting a registration deadline. This term the deadline is May 29, after which classes with fewer than the minimum seven registrants will be canceled. Some late registrations will be accepted after the deadline with a $20 late registration fee.

There are several ways to register:

Online with a major credit card (American Express, MasterCard, or Visa) by following the “Register Online” link under the course listing (Note: if online registration has not started, if the class is full, or if it has been canceled, the “Register online” option will not appear).

By phone with a major credit card: (312) 255-3700.

Either mail in the registration form found in the Newberry Seminars Program brochure or download and mail in the Registration Form. Personal checks should be made out to the Newberry.

Fax the Registration Form to us at (312) 255-3680.

Please note that the registration deadline is May 29; registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Many of the seminars fill quickly; we encourage you to register early. Full payment is required at the time of registration, and we cannot pro-rate tuitions to compensate for missed classes. Seven registrants are needed to run a class.

Once we receive payment, a confirmation letter will be sent to you along with a Newberry reader’s card and a reading or materials list for the seminar. Cost of books and other materials is not included in listed tuitions. All seminars meet at the Newberry unless otherwise noted.

Discounts

We are pleased to offer a 10% discount to seniors over the age of 65, students with a valid copy of their student ID, or Newberry Associates at the Author level ($100 or above).

Refunds

Requests for refunds must be received in writing. To request a refund, email us at programs@newberry.org. The Seminars Office retains a $20 processing fee. For single and two-session seminars, tuition (less the $20 processing fee) is refundable until one day before the seminar begins. For seminars meeting more than twice, tuition (less the $20 processing fee) is refundable until the second class meeting; we cannot give a refund once the seminar has met a second time. Requests for refunds may be placed over the phone, but must be received in writing or via email at programs@newberry.org before the class meets a second time.

Books and Materials

The Newberry’s Bookstore stocks most required and recommended titles for the Seminars. Newberry Associates, at the Author level ($100) and above, and members of the Seminary Co-op receive a 10% discount on all seminar texts.
